This article, based on the newly published complete works of Henri Saint-Simon, examines his idea of a united European community. It is true that the expected role or meaning of Saint-Simon’s European community or united Europe, which is well known for industrialism, positivism, or utopian socialism, has not been fully studied yet. Nevertheless, it is still apparent that Saint-Simon tried to overcome the European crisis of the post-French Revolution through the establishment of a new social system. This article investigates this very issue by analyzing the writings of Saint-Simon, which is divided into three periods. The analysis made in this article clarifies that Saint-Simon’s European community project is geared toward establishing an industrial system that accommodates the poor.
